STATE OF THINGS

Is the negotiating at an end? What are the proper uses of power, love and money? And, most pressingly of all, just how many burgers is it possible to serve in one minute?

In a world of ever-increasing distances between fellow human beings, these semi-devised short plays ask whether humankind (oh, and some robots) has abandoned the quest for solidarity and connection.

From rebellion to forgiveness, from rags to riches, and from nine to five, our fresh new writers trace the boundaries of where, and with whom, we should stand when the moment comes to choose.

State of Things showcased six new short plays linked together in a promenade production exploring collective and individual stakes in everyday, futuristic and abstract situations. Waste Not Theatre’s debut production played a sold-out run at Old Vic Workrooms in March 2018.
