CALLING ALL WRITERS
JOIN OUR NEXT writers' evening!
NEXT EVENT: RESCHEDULED to Monday 15th July 2024
SUBMISSION DEADLINE: EXTENDED to Monday 10th June 2024
Waste Not Theatre will be facilitating a Writers' Evening so that you can get your work read - and heard! It doesn't matter if you've never written before, or if you're an expert in finely crafted miniature stories...we want to hear from you.
We're looking for
-
Short pieces or excerpts with a strict limit of 2,000 words. If you are submitting an excerpt from a longer piece of work, please submit only the part you want us to consider. Do not send whole scripts or otherwise exceed the word limit as these will not be considered and therefore no feedback will be given.
-
Pieces which can be performed by up to five actors.
-
No monologues please
-
Your writing can be on any topic, in any form, whether poetic, abstract, hilarious, angry, or downright bonkers.
We'll select pieces for each Writers' Evening and ask our actors to read them through. The reading is followed by a short feedback discussion between all the writers, actors and Waste Not. Our previous Writers' Evening have typically featured five pieces from five writers.
We believe writers deserve feedback. So, as well as providing the opportunity to hear your work read, our aim is simply to create a safe space where you can get some genuine, constructive feedback on your ideas - not only from our actors and company members, but also from other writers - like you!
How to submit your writing
-
Before submitting, please follow this naming convention for your document:
First name Last name - Title of your piece
This saves us lots of time, confusion and is a big help.
-
When we are accepting submissions, use the button below to send us your piece.
When is it happening?
